Traumeel Injections are highly sought afternatural, homeopathic treatments for conditions that cause painful inflammation. Traumeel is a botanical extract that was largely unrecognized as an injection type of remedy in the United States for over 80 years; athletes would often travel to Europe to receive such care for sports injuries. Traumeel is primarily composed of arnica montana root, a plant extract that is commonly found in tablets and creams to relieve pain and inflammation.

The body’s immune system begins its response to injury with inflammation. The swelling and warmth experienced at an injured site is caused by increased blood flow to an area, diffusing from blood vessels into the damaged tissue. The body does this to transport immune system cells to the infection or injury site to begin killing foreign material and repairing body cells. This would be an effective means of beginning the healing process, but our bodies often overreact, developing excess heat and swelling that could last long enough to reverse any helpful effects. Traumeel is an agent found in nature that not only reduces swelling, but balances it to promote its benefits.

WHAT IS TREATED

Traumeel Injections treat a variety of musculoskeletal inflammation based conditions. Soft tissue injuries respond best to traumeel treatment, including muscles ligaments, and tendons. It is most helpful to those who experience chronic inflammation, like athletes who may have a weak area or body part that they overuse during performance. Some common conditions that may benefit from Traumeel injections are:

Tendinitis

Sprains/Strains

Tears of ligaments, muscles, or tendons

Joint pain

Plantar faciitis

Trauma

Sports Injury

Muscle spasms

Fractures

Post-operative pain

Bursitis

Minor arthritis symptoms

TRAUMEEL VS. CORTICOSTEROID

Traumeel Injections are homeopathic treatments, meaning the medicinal agent is completely derived from minerals found in nature. Because the solution is mostly plant based, there are little to no side effects, including allergic reactions which are extremely rare. The absence of other effects makes Traumeel an anti-inflammatory treatment that can be used as often as necessary. Corticosteroids, though safe when regulated by a physician, may have adverse effects if used too often. Corticosteroids can target soft tissue cells, causing them to shrink if exposed to the medication at long periods of time, so they are rarely ever administered more than once every six months. Due to the varying response patients have to corticosteroid treatment, inflammation may begin again before this time period. Traumeel may be an effective alternative to patients who do not respond fully to corticosteroid injections.

USAGE

Traumeel injections are most effective when administered immediately after injury. Communication between patient and physician is essential since the dosage of Traumeel given at each injection can be based on the reaction of the patient. Traumeel injections are natural and homeopathic, so they may be repeated until symptoms disappear as routine therapy. The most effective protocol is three injections in a week to the injured area.

PREPARATION

A patient should wear loose comfortable clothing to their injection appointment. A sterile needle will be inserted into the inflamed area and the arnica based medicine injected directly into the pain site. Due to tenderness of the area and depending on how deeply the needle may needs to penetrate, the injection site may be sore for a few days. Over the counter anti-inflammatories will usually dull any pain while it dissipates.
